Terms of Service

By accessing or using SquadBalance ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age or have the consent of a parent or guardian.

SquadBalance is a freemium SaaS web application designed for recreational sports team balancing. The Service provides:

• Squad management and player roster creation
• Anonymous peer rating functionality
• Attendance polling for games and events
• Automated team generation based on player ratings
• Shareable links for ratings and team results

The Service is intended for recreational sports groups and is not designed for professional or competitive league use.

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of your password
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

As a squad administrator, you are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from players before adding their names to your roster and sharing rating links.

SquadBalance offers three subscription tiers:

We reserve the right to modify tier features and limits with reasonable notice to users.

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Payment is processed securely through Stripe, our third-party payment processor.

• All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes, which will be added where required
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
• Refunds are provided at our discretion and are not guaranteed
• Price changes will be communicated with at least 30 days notice

By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge the applicable subscription fees to your chosen payment method.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon the rights of others, including privacy rights
• Submit false, misleading, or defamatory information
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without permission
• Transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy.

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by SquadBalance and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (such as squad names and player names). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service or included software without our express written permission.

Your privacy is important to us. Our use and collection of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Key privacy features of SquadBalance include:

• Anonymous ratings: Individual rater identities are never linked to stored ratings
• Hashed identifiers: Cookie identifiers used for anonymous ratings are hashed before storage
• Limited data retention: Shareable links expire after 7 days

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SQUADBALANCE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE LIABILITY.

We do not guarantee that teams generated by the Service will be perfectly balanced or that all users will be satisfied with team assignments.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in your profile settings.

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:

• Breach of these Terms
• Violation of the Acceptable Use Policy
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Extended periods of inactivity

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. All data associated with your account may be deleted after a reasonable retention period.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:

• Posting the updated Terms on this page
• Updating the "Last updated" date
• Sending email notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which SquadBalance operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.
